Horsetail reeds (equisetum hymale) grow rather well in my yard. And soon, my neighbors’.

In the territorial dispute of the Pond Builder vs. the Raccoons, I lost. But that’s OK, because these reeds are an extremely ancient plant, right back there with ferns, and they will probably eventually recover the earth anyway. You may as well just give up now.
